Goat found strolling Sweden streets

SKARA, Sweden, June 16 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden were trying to track down the owners of a goat who went on a nighttime walkabout in Skara.

Police said they received several calls at around 11 p.m. local time Saturday from residents who said they spotted a goat strolling around town.

They tracked down the goat and took it into custody without any incidence, TheLocal.se reported.

So far, police said they haven't had any luck tracking down the goat's owners.

"We have staff members who are good at handling animals, but finding an owner in the middle of the night was trickier," police officer Tommy Gustavsson told local newspaper Nya Lidköpings-Tidningen.

"We spoke to the circus that's in town right now, but they don't want to have anything to do with it," he added.

The goat was lodged at a local animal hospital overnight, and will remain there until the owner comes forward, the news website said.

"We would be very grateful if the owner could get in touch with us," Gustavsson said.
