Steve Irwin's daughter alive after reports of death on Internet

June 15, 2013 at 1:32 AM   |   Comments

SYDNEY, June 15 (UPI) -- Internet reports of the death of the 14-year-old daughter of Australian "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin have been greatly exaggerated.

Zap2it said the rumor appears to have started innocently, possibly because a headline about Bindi Irwin, who has been in the news in recent months, somehow got mixed in with an old headline about Irwin's death from a stingray in 2006. Once it was out there, the story turned up when anyone searched for her online.

Bindi Irwin starred in "Return to Nim's Island," a film released earlier this year, and has become known for her own conservation activism.
