DESTIN, Fla., June 13 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said they are investigating the discovery of 55 pounds of cocaine found floating in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Okaloosa County Multiagency Drug Task Force, comprised of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Niceville Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, said a group of five fishermen discovered a large package floating in the gulf Wednesday south of the Destin East Pass and turned it over to authorities.

Testing carried out on the package's contents revealed it to be about 55 pounds of cocaine.
