SAN FRANCISCO, June 12 (UPI) -- San Francisco transit authorities say a popular YouTube video of a naked man attacking people and raising havoc at a subway station was taken in May.

The video, which was posted to YouTube Monday and quickly went viral with nearly 273,000 views, depicts Yeiner Perez, 24, running nude through a Bay Area Rapid Transit station while performing back flips and attacking passengers at random, CNN reported Wednesday.

"It happened over a month ago," BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said. "This is the first time anyone has seen video."

However, older versions of the video were posted to YouTube three weeks ago, but did not receive nearly as many views.

Police confirmed Perez was arrested and taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He was charged him with misdemeanor battery.

"We're requesting an order from the district attorney to keep him off BART property," Trost said.
