MyDestination.com picked Alex and Mark Ayling from thousands of entries after the two made a road trip video while teaching English in Spain. They dubbed themselves the "Vagabrothers."
The video and a subsequent test of fitness and resilience against a total of 10 other entrants -- contests including walking on fire and making chocolate truffles -- earned them $10,000 in expenses and $50,000 to travel the world, U-T San Diego said Friday.
Their working "bucket list" -- that is, the list of things someone wants to do before he kicks the bucket -- includes climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, participating in a Bedouin camel caravan in the desert, swimming with sharks, bungee jumping in New Zealand, meditating in a Buddhist monastery in the Himalayas and participating in a traditional Thai full moon celebration.
