CHICAGO, June 3 (UPI) -- A Chicago parolee arrested more than 70 times found out stealing candy isn't always as easy as stealing candy from a baby, officials said.

Police said Amarri C. Bowens, 22, was arrested for the 77th time Saturday morning when he allegedly stole a box of Starburst candy from a convenience store at the Addison Red Line station in Wrigleyville. The candy, which police recovered, is worth $29.89. For its alleged theft, Bowens was jailed in lieu of $30,000 bail. The candy theft charge is a felony because it violates Bowens' parole, the Chicago Tribune said.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office said Bowens was sentenced to three years in prison but was let out on parole in December 2012 after serving about 18 months.

Bowens is due in court Friday following his latest arrest.
