CLEVELAND, June 3 (UPI) -- Cleveland Police said a man ordered to hold a sign proclaiming himself an "idiot" for threatening police did not show up to serve his sentence.

Richard Dameron, 58, was sentenced to 90 days in jail and ordered to hold a sign across the street from the Second District Cleveland Police station for three hours Monday morning after he was convicted of making threatening 911 calls to Cleveland Police, WKYC-TV, Cleveland, reported Monday.

However, Dameron failed to show up for his sign-holding shift at 7 a.m. Monday.

"I apologize to Officer Simone, his family, all law enforcement officers and Ms. Adkins for threatening to kill them. I was being an idiot and it will never happen again," Dameron said.

The court did not say what penalty, if any, Dameron would face for missing his scheduled sign-holding time.
