Dunkin' Donuts puts bacon, egg on glazed doughnut

CANTON, Mass., June 3 (UPI) -- Eatery chain Dunkin' Donuts, based in Massachusetts, announced the creation of the Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich.

Stan Frankenthaler, the chain's executive chef and vice president of global product innovation, said the sandwich, which will be available nationwide starting Friday, includes a fried egg and cherrywood-smoked bacon inside of a split glazed yeast ring doughnut.

The company said 360-calorie sandwich will be a permanent part of the menu.

"The glazed donut is light and fluffy and gives you just the right amount of sweetness. Combined with the lightly salted, smoked bacon, the texture and flavors marry together in a wonderful way. It's a delicious bite of the perfect harmonization of sweet and savory flavors," Frankenthaler said.
