HOLLYWOOD, Fla., May 31 (UPI) -- A Florida man says he was late to work because his bus driver stopped to get breakfast at a McDonald's restaurant.

Devon Start was aboard a bus the morning of May 17 in Hollywood, Fla., when the the bus driver, Yolanda Davis, pulled over in front of a McDonald's for breakfast, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Thursday.

"That Egg McMuffin almost cost me my job as the bus was late,'' Start told the Sun Sentinel.

The newspaper said Davis couldn't be reached for comment, but her bosses determined that she didn't break any rules. Broward County transit policy allows bus drivers to stop along their routes for food if they are back on the bus within 5 minutes.

Transit spokeswoman Phyllis Berry said Davis' stop took less than 5 minutes. Stuart said the stop took 10 to 15 minutes.
