NEW YORK, May 29 (UPI) -- New York police said they are trying to determine whether a man accused of at least six rug thefts from ATM vestibules is behind 32 similar crimes.

Police said William Footman, 55, allegedly stole six rugs from Chase Bank ATM vestibules in the city and officers are looking at surveillance footage to determine whether he was behind 32 similar heists, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Investigators said Footman fenced the $400 rugs for $30 apiece at a bodega in the Harlem neighborhood.
