WAYNESVILLE, Ohio, May 27 (UPI) -- Eighty-seven-year-old Clarence Turner jumped out of an airplane in Ohio this weekend to raise money to help pay his sick great-grandson's medical bills.

"Today, I'm really jumping for Julian, the baby that's had a lung transplant on Mother's Day. It's the least I can do for him," Turner said Saturday in Waynesville.

It wasn't the first time Turner had parachuted -- he made 16 jumps with the Army Airborne during World War II, WLWT-TV, Cincinnati, reported.

This time he made it a tandem jump with an instructor, leaping from a plane at 11,000 feet.

The money he raised will go to help offset the more than $1 million in medical bills that have piled up for his 11-month-old great-grandson.
