Warehouse worker buried in pineapple

May 25, 2013 at 3:04 PM   |   Comments

JERSEY CITY, N.J., May 25 (UPI) -- A worker at a New Jersey warehouse was buried under about 1,500 pounds of pineapple he was unloading, emergency workers said.

The man, whose identity was not reported, was not injured but paramedics took him to a hospital, where doctors tested him for internal injuries following the Wednesday afternoon incident.

The New York Daily News said the worker, 39, was unloading 40-pound boxes of pineapple from a shipping container when the stack toppled over and buried him. It took firefighters several minutes to remove enough of the boxes to even find the victim.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration is investigating the incident.
