BELCARRA, British Columbia, May 24 (UPI) -- A Canadian teen and his dog are recovering from wounds after he rescued the dog from a cougar in what he called "the most terrifying thing I've ever endured."

Levi Sadler, 16, said he was at home in Belcarra, near Vancouver, British Columbia, Tuesday night when he heard his black Labrador, Daisy, screaming outside of his window, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.

"It was terrifying, like a scream you hear in movies, coming from a dog," he said. "When I looked over, the cougar had its mouth completely around her neck. All I saw were Daisy's legs kicking and screaming."

Sadler said he jumped out of his window and shouted at the cougar until it dropped the dog.

"I was oblivious to the cougar," Sadler said. "I was looking at Daisy, just hoping she was OK."

He said the cougar returned while he wasn't paying attention.

"It almost clawed me. I felt the paws pass by my ear. I thought he'd cut my jugular to be honest. It was the most terrifying thing I've ever endured."

Sadler said he injured his head climbing back in his window.

"My blood was pumping so much. I wouldn't have even cared if I was hurt. I was trying to get Daisy out of there," he said.

The Sadler family said Daisy received more than 100 stitches for her lacerations and is recovering.
