EDINBURGH, Scotland, May 23 (UPI) -- Eric Joyce, the Scottish politician already banned from bars in the British Parliament, was arrested Wednesday at the Edinburgh airport.

Joyce got into a fight with police after he discovered he had left his cellphone on a plane, The Scottish Sun reported.

"He became more and more aggressive and went to grab one of the officers," a witness told the newspaper. "They then pushed him up against the desk and down on the floor, where he was handcuffed."

Police Scotland would only say an alleged breach of the peace by a 52-year-old man was referred to the procurator fiscal. Joyce wrote on the political website Guido Fawkes he was detained by "a ludicrously over-reacting transport cop."

Joyce, who entered politics after a military career in Scotland's famous Black Watch regiment, represents a Scottish district in the British Parliament.

He resigned from the Labor Party last year after a drunken brawl in the Strangers' Bar in the House of Commons but said he would complete his current term as an independent. In March, he was banned from all parliamentary bars after another altercation.
