CLEVELAND, May 23 (UPI) -- More than a dozen Ohio restaurants are offering free burgers for life to Cleveland kidnapping hero Charles Ramsey.

The restaurants -- including Cleveland's AMP 150 and the Washington Place Bistro and Inn -- said they were inspired to offer the free burgers after Ramsey abandoned his Big Mac meal to help kidnapping victims Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight when he heard a scream come from a home, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Thursday.

Hodges restaurant, where Ramsey works as a dishwasher, was inspired to create the Ramsey Burger in honor of its employee.

"It's an 8-ounce burger of Certified Angus Beef, with a secret sauce," chef and co-owner Chris Hodgson said.

Scott Kuhn of Driftwood Restaurant Group said he owns four restaurants offering the free burger deal to Ramsey.

"We want to honor our local hero with local food," Kuhn said. "He stopped his meal midway through to help those women. We're now making sure he has other opportunities to go out and fully enjoy his burger."
