The Jersey City Police Department said the black goat, which had a U.S. Department of Agriculture tag on one of its ears, was seen wandering on the Pulaski Skyway around 7 a.m. Tuesday and caused a four-vehicle crash during its 90 minutes on the loose, The Jersey Journal, of Jersey City, N.J., reported Wednesday.
Details of the crash weren't available.
The goat was taken to Liberty Humane Society's shelter in Jersey City and authorities said it would be transported to a rescue farm in Wantage.
Authorities said the goat was likely headed for a slaughterhouse but its origins are unknown. Police said the goat will stay at the Wantage farm until it is claimed by an owner.
