STOCKTON-ON-TEES, England, May 22 (UPI) -- A British man whose broken arm took six years to mend said he broke it again the day after his final treatment when he tripped over his dog.

Tim Blackburn, 50, of Stockton-on-Tees, England, said he busted his right arm when he fell off a ladder in 2007 and doctors had to remove 4 inches of bone and attach a metal scaffold around the arm, The Sun reported Wednesday.

Blackburn said the arm was finally healed this month using a new ultrasound technique, but it snapped again the day after the final treatment when he tripped over Jackson, his 2-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier, and tumbled down the stairs.

"It snapped like a twig and the pain was excruciating. I couldn't believe I had done it again," Blackburn said. "If I didn't laugh about all of it, I'd cry."

Blackburn said he was once again awaiting surgery on the arm.
