Brothers ordered to take down Christmas decorations

ROSS, Pa., May 21 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania homeowner is accusing township officials of selective enforcement for ordering his brother, who lives in the home, to remove yard decorations.

Robert Ansell, owner of the Ross Township home, said he and his brother, William, the home's resident, have been ordered to remove the toys and Christmas decorations from the yard by May 29 or face a $3,000 fine, KDKA-TV, Pittsburgh, reported Tuesday.

Neighbors have long complained about the external decor of the home.

"It's embarrassing to have friends over or bring new friends over," neighbor Tom White said.

Robert Ansell accused township officials of selective enforcement.

"They've got weeds, they've got building materials, they've got a shed falling down out back; and they're sitting here worrying about me, whether I have toys and Christmas decorations in my yard," Ansell said. "That ain't right."

William Ansell said he is being singled out unfairly.

"The neighbors didn't like my Christmas display, and the township took sides, and decided they were going to find whatever way possible to shut it down," William Ansell said.
