Firefighters rescue treed police officer

NEW YORK, May 16 (UPI) -- New York firefighters said they rescued a police officer who became stranded 30 feet up in a tree while attempting to rescue a cat.

Firefighters said the uniformed police officer got stranded in the tree Monday near Public School 213 in the Bayside neighborhood of Queens while attempting to reach a cat stuck in the tree, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

Ladder Co. 160 said the officer was rescued after about 20 minutes.
