WATERTOWN, Mass., May 8 (UPI) -- Massachusetts transit officials said police have returned $1,100 in cash to a man who left it behind on a bus.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said Tuesday Transit Police identified a Watertown man as the owner of $1,100 left behind on the 73 bus from Cambridge to Belmont Monday, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday.

Bus driver Kevin White, 48, said the envelope of cash was handed to him by an unidentified female passenger Monday. He said the bus had been full at the time so he was unsure who had left it behind.

MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said police worked together with the Cambridge Savings Bank to identify the owner, whose name was not released.
