Jerry Prante traveled to Fargo on Saturday to retrieve his 1982 Campbell-Tintah, Minn., High School class ring that he lost 31 years ago, The Forum, Fargo, N.D./Moorehead, Minn., reported Saturday.
Greg Olson, owner of Treasure Island Coins and Precious Metals in Fargo, said he found the ring several years ago while on a metal-detecting trip in Minnesota. He said that because the ring was not made of a precious metal, he put it in his "junk box."
Then a few weeks ago, one of Olson's employees noticed the initials "JEP" on the ring and decided to call Campbell-Tintah, Minn., High School to see if anyone graduated in 1982 with those initials.
The school directed him to Jerry Prante.
Prante met with Olson on Saturday to receive his long lost ring.
"You don't know where you lost it, and I don't know where I found it, but you're getting it back," Olson told Prante.
