Harold and Frances Gates, who got engaged as seniors at Sam Houston High School in 1960, said they enrolled at Lone Star College in Kingwood and they are both maintaining 4.0 grade point averages and are members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, KTRK-TV, Houston, reported Monday. Advertisement The couple said they are on track to receive their associate's degrees next year. "Probably for the self-satisfaction that I'll have a degree," Harold said. Kathy Adkins, the school's counseling director, had high praise for the pair. "Once they got into their classes, they found they were capable of doing this and far more, and I said, 'You know what? The sky's the limit,'" Adkins said. "In a sense, they hadn't given themselves enough credit."
