Kmart's 'ship their pants' ad provokes comments on Facebook

MCLEAN, Va., April 15 (UPI) -- Kmart's advertisement for its shipping service, in which customers say they will "ship their pants," is getting mixed reviews for humor and vulgarity.

Social media users denounced the online ads as "gross" and "vulgar," since the phrase "ship their pants" is one letter away from an unrefined reference to an action unrelated to making a purchase. Others, however, credit the retail store with an edgy sense of humor, USA Today reported Monday.

The official YouTube video of the ad has been seen more than 7 million times and Kmart got what it sought, a higher visibility of its shipping service, the newspaper said.

"Great commercial. Gets your attention and makes you smile. Good job," said Norbert R. Gabby in a Facebook post.

Another review was less generous.

"If you have to stoop to shooting a commercial that isn't appropriate for my children to hear, then I think it's about time to shut your doors. The ad just seems desperate," commented Melissa Clark Edgington on Facebook.
