TINTON FALLS, N.J., April 15 (UPI) -- New Jersey State Police said a woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl on the Garden State Parkway toll road.

Sgt. Adam Grossman, a State Police spokesman, said troopers responded around 10:40 p.m. Sunday to the northbound lanes of the parkway just outside of Tinton Falls on a report of a woman in labor, The (Newark) Star-Ledger reported Monday.

Grossman said troopers arrived to find the woman had already given birth. The mother and newborn daughter were said to be doing well at a Monmouth County hospital.

Police did not identify the woman or say whether she was alone in the car at the time of the birth.
