Ferrets sold as dogs in Argentina

April 9, 2013 at 4:01 PM   |   Comments

BUENOS AIRES, April 9 (UPI) -- Shoppers at a Buenos Aires market said they were tricked into buying steroid-enhanced ferrets that were being sold as toy poodles and chihuahuas.

A man said he purchased white ferrets for $150 apiece at the La Salda market after being told they were toy poodles and another shopper said she bought a ferret that she was told was a chihuahua, The Latin Times reported Tuesday.

Ferrets being enhanced by steroids and sold as dogs was thought to be an urban legend in the area until the cases were confirmed, The Latin Times said.
