Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe AURORA, Colo., April 8 (UPI) -- A pair of Colorado siblings who were reunited with help from Facebook said they were shocked to find they were former coworkers. Richie Baumgardner and Birdie Evans, who were separated when Richie was 6 and Birdie was 1, said they spent years trying to locate each other and their two other brothers, but had no success until two years ago, when Baumgardner was able to find Evans' father, Bobby Evans, on Facebook, KDVR-TV, Denver, reported Monday. Advertisement "My mom got in some trouble, left me and Birdie in a hotel room, and got arrested by police," Baumgardner said of how he was separated from his family. "We went through Social Services, where I was adopted. My name changed from Johnson, and Birdie's dad, Bobby Evans, got custody of her." Baumgardner said he found Bobby Evans on Facebook. "I found his picture and said, 'Okay, we'll that's definitely him,'" Baumgardner said. "I look at his daughter and it was somebody I worked with at the restaurant." Baumgardner and Evans had met while they both worked at Joe's Crab Shack in Aurora. They said they discovered they had also both attended George Washington High School in Denver, but at different times. Advertisement Evans said she discovered last month that their mother, Diana Chastain, died in 2005. The siblings said they are trying to get into touch with Chastain's other two sons, Orlando and Jason. Baumgardner and Evans said they are eager for a family reunion. "We want you in our lives," Evans said. "There is no reason why a system or privacy rights or whatever should keep us apart."
