FREMONT, Calif., April 4 (UPI) -- Police in California said they are seeking the owners of garden statues apparently taken from yards and placed on a lawn as a prank.

Fremont police said they believe pranksters took a "Welcome to our Pad" frog sign, two frog garden statues, an 18-inch angel statue, a small praying angel statue and a bear statue holding a welcome sign from various area yards late Friday or early Saturday and arranged them in a single yard, The Oakland (Calif.) Tribune reported Thursday.

Police said none of the objects were damaged and they are hoping the owners will come forward and claim their property.

Officers said the incident was not unique.

"A few years ago, several baby Jesuses showed up on a front lawn over Christmas," Officer Geneva Bosques said.

Bosques said police have not determined whether the thief or thieves would face petty theft charges.
