WESTON, Fla., April 3 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a small plane carrying two people made an emergency landing on a road.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said the pilot of the twin-engine Beechcraft 18 had taken off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport on a training exercise Tuesday, but was soon forced to make an emergency landing, The Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

The plane successfully touched down at mile marker 44 on U.S. 27, near Weston.

"The pilot did a good job with the landing," Jachles said.

The pilot and passenger were not injured, Jachles said.

It was unclear whether the plane ran out of fuel or suffered a mechanical failure.
