Bride busted on theft charge

ONALASKA, Wis., March 26 (UPI) -- Police in Wisconsin said they arrested a newlywed accused of stealing rings from the venue where her reception was held.

Investigators said Connie Sykes, 58, of Onalaska was caught on security cameras stealing a small display case containing rings from a local jeweler during her wedding reception Sunday at River Jack's Restaurant and Lounge, the Lacrosse Tribune reported Tuesday.

Police said the woman's bra insert was found near where the case was taken.

Officers confronted Sykes at her home, where she denied taking the case, but her new husband discovered it while looking through their wedding gifts.

The case contained 76 rings worth a total of about $1,000.

Sykes was arrested on a charge of theft.
