LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- Authorities in Los Angeles are crediting pro wrestler Chris Masters with helping rescue his mother from her burning home.

Los Angeles police said they responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Diane Mordetzky's home at 6:30 p.m. PDT Tuesday and the burglar, who had the woman trapped inside, threatened to light the home on fire if anyone came inside, KNBC-TV, Los Angeles, reported Friday.

The woman's son, Christopher Mordetzky, aka World Wrestling Entertainment performer Chris Masters, uprooted a bush and used it to smash out a window when the burglar followed through on the threat and lit a fire.

The Mordetzkys and three police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

The alleged burglar, whose name was not released, was placed under arrest.

"Pulled down a tree to bust my moms windows open and get her out of the house," Mordetzky wrote on his Twitter feed @ChrisMasters310. "Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Moms resting comfortably with me at my place."
