Survey: Many don't tip concierge

CHARLESTOWN, Mass., March 20 (UPI) -- Travel website Tingo, based in Massachusetts, said its survey indicates 60 percent of travelers never tip their hotel concierge.

The website said its online survey of nearly 700 people found 60 percent of respondents said they never tip the concierge and 46 percent of those who do tip the concierge give less than $2 per day.

Meanwhile, 25 percent of respondents said they never tip the bellhop, with 51 percent of tippers giving less than $2 per day, and 22 percent said they never tip housekeeping, with 52 percent of those who tip giving $2-$4 per day.

The survey also found 25 percent those polled said they had been walked in on by housekeeping, with many reporting they were sleeping, showering or using the toilet at the time.

The company did not gives dates for the survey or a margin of error.
