LONDON, March 16 (UPI) -- A member of the British House of Commons was barred Friday from all eight parliamentary bars after his second arrest in just over a year.

Eric Joyce, who represents Falkirk in Scotland as an independent, was released on bail, the Daily Mirror reported. He resigned from the Labor Party after admitting a drunken assault last year on several fellow MPs, most of them Conservatives, in the Strangers Bar.

Joyce was arrested Thursday night at the Sports and Social Club. Witnesses said he had been drinking with an aide and apparently became enraged when told he could not carry his drink outside.

Parliament officials said Friday he would not be allowed in any of the eight bars.

Joyce, 59, was an enlisted man and officer in Scotland's storied Black Watch regiment. He resigned from the Army in 2009, accusing the military of being sexist and racist, and was elected to Parliament the next year.
