Seattle developer plans Saturn sculpture

SEATTLE, March 15 (UPI) -- A Seattle businessman said he is hoping to have a fiberglass sculpture of Saturn, measuring 12 feet in diameter, suspended from his building by June.

Brian Regan, a developer in the Fremont neighborhood, which has declared itself the Center of Universe, said the city's transportation committee gave preliminary approval for his plan to suspend the sculpture from his five-story building, 65 feet above the sidewalk, and final approval from the City Council could come next month, The Seattle Times reported Friday.

"It came to me in a vision," Regan said of his plan. "The Center of the Universe needs a gravitational pull. People near the planet will feel the radiation of good vibes."

Regan said he is hoping the sculpture, to be fabricated by the Tacoma firm B&B Aircraft at a cost of about $25,000, will be in place for the annual Fremont Solstice parade in June.

He said the sculpture will have solar panels on its rings, which will collect energy during the day to illuminate the artwork at night.
