Korean youths hold 'potato party' at McD's

SEOUL, March 6 (UPI) -- A group of South Korean youths were ejected from a McDonald's for holding a "potato party" -- a gathering involving an unhealthy amount of fries.

Asian news site RocketNews24 said the group of about a dozen young people were kicked out of the fast food eatery after ordering $250 worth of fries and dumping them from their cardboard packaging directly onto 16 plastic trays before taking pictures and digging in, The Guardian, Britain, reported Wednesday.

"Stop causing trouble, you brats! Get out of here!" a worker reportedly yelled at the group.

The "potato party" fad began in Japan when a group of youngsters posted a picture of themselves attempting to down 23 large cartons of fries in October, The Guardian reported. The picture set off a string of escalating online posts featuring kids downing 40 packs of fries and 60 packs of fries.
