TORONTO, March 3 (UPI) -- Firefighters in Toronto had to free a 24-year-old partygoer from a safe that he entered on a dare and then got stuck in for about 30 minutes.

Emergency responders were dispatched to a vacant store before midnight Saturday after receiving a report that a man was stuck in a safe, the Toronto Star reported.

The man spent about a half hour in the safe before he was cut out, police said.

Officials gave conflicting accounts as to how large the safe was -- one described it as

"very large" and the other said it was small -- but all said alcohol was involved in the incident.

The man did not require medical attention after the incident.
