DONCASTER, Australia, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Wildlife officials in Australia are tending to a wallaby that found himself in a precarious spot on a ledge atop a four-story parking garage.

Amy Amato, a spokeswoman for Wildlife Victoria, the organization that was called in to try to rescue the scared creature, said the wallaby found his way out onto a ledge but hopped back onto the surface of the parking garage where he was safely hit with a tranquilizer dart and taken into captivity.

Amato said the wallaby was slightly underweight and had injured paws from hopping on concrete, but was otherwise in good condition. She said the wildlife shelter will monitor the wallaby for a few days before releasing it back into the wild.

Onlookers said they had no idea how the animal got into the Doncaster, Victoria, garage or to the top floor, the Manningham (Australia) Leader said Saturday.
