Bart Schenning of Gaarderen said the mammoth, assembled from 280 bones mostly dredged up by fishing nets, is being auctioned on website Marktplaats because he does not have room to keep the skeleton, DutchNews.nl reported Tuesday. Advertisement Schenning said he has had trouble selling the skeleton partially because most museums on the Netherlands already have a mammoth in their collection.
