EDINBURGH, Scotland, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Traffic was backed up for a nearly a mile in the Scottish capital as customers lined up for free doughnuts at the country's first Krispy Kreme shop.

The line of more than 300 people standing in the snow to receive free doughnuts from the Edinburgh Krispy Kreme store was led by Benjamin Easton, 33, a veteran of Krispy Kreme openings, The Sun reported Friday.

"I was first in the Wales store too," Easton said.

The wait for free doughnuts caused traffic on the M8 to be backed up for more than a mile.
