MIAMI, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old Florida girl who became an Internet sensation for giving a Miami-Dade judge the middle finger in court has apologized for her actions.

Penelope Soto appeared in court Friday to apologize to Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat for flipping him off, The Miami New Times reported.

Soto was initially arrested after police found her standing next to a bike and crying with grass in her hair. She told police she was on Xanex and said she had more in her purse.

Soto appeared in court Monday, where Rodriguez-Chomat placed her bond at $5,000. When she left the court, she gave a flippant "adios" and the judge called her back and raised her bail to $10,000.

When Soto left the second time, she flipped the judge off. Rodriguez-Chomat called her back a second time and sentenced her to 30 days in jail on contempt of court charges.

"My behavior was very irrational, and I apologize not only to the court and you, but to my family," Soto said in court Friday.

Rodriguez-Chomat vacated the 30 day contempt of court sentence.
