Advertisement The airport's first high-speed auto demonstration, organized Monday to celebrate the release of the 2013 Aventador LP 700-4 and the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini, featured five of the cars attempting to break the airport's 150 mph maximum takeoff speed, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday. "The high-speed test runs exceeded 180 mph, so the cars beat the speed of any aircraft currently taking off from our runways," airport spokesman Greg Chin said. Lamborghini President and chief executive officer Stephan Winkelmann said Miami was chosen as the location for the launch of the Aventador for a reason. "Lamborghini wanted to introduce its newest and most anticipated vehicle in a market that is one of the top markets in the U.S.," Winkelmann said. "Additionally, Miami's position as a premiere luxury lifestyle destination makes it a perfect location for the launch of Lamborghini's newest and most extreme open-top vehicle." Advertisement Couple face charges for deer rescue CONNERSVILLE, Ind., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- An Indiana couple said authorities told them they could face jail time after they rescued an injured baby deer and nursed it back to health. Jeff and Jennifer Counceller of Connersville said they found the fawn injured on their neighbor's porch more than two years ago and brought the animal to their home where they treated her wounds and nursed her back to health, ABC News reported Tuesday. The couple said a conservation officer from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources came by their home during the summer and told them the state wanted to euthanize the deer, which they had dubbed Little Orphan Dani. The officer said Dani could be dangerous and a threat to humans. "I was devastated. I spent a year and several months nursing her into adulthood, getting to the point where she was able to go out on her own," Counceller said. The Councellers said Dani escaped from their home the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. State officials are now attempting to press charges against the couple for unlawful possession of a deer, a misdemeanor bearing a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and $2,000 in fines. Advertisement "No matter what the law is, we did what was right for the animal," Jennifer Counceller said. Army exercise startles neighbors HOUSTON, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army said the presence of helicopters and armed soldiers in a Houston neighborhood were due to a training drill. The commotion Monday afternoon at the old Carnegie Vanguard High School, which was closed in 2009, resulted in several calls from concerned residents to KTRK-TV, Houston, about military helicopters, armed soldiers and sounds of gunfire, KTRK-TV reported. "When you see this, you think the worst. When you hear this, you think the worst," resident Frances Jerrals said. The Army said the incident was a multi-agency training exercise at the shuttered high school. No details about the nature of the training were released. Woman fined $538 for dropping salt TROSTRE, Wales, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A Welsh woman said she is being fined $538 after dropping a small package of salt while eating her lunch in a parking lot. Laura Howells, 24, said she dropped the packet of salt while eating her KFC takeout in a Trostre, Wales, parking lot and a council official issued her a $101 ticket, The Sun reported Tuesday. Advertisement "I felt sick when I found out how much it cost me -- it was only a salt sachet," Howells said. "I was eating lunch in the car and must have dropped it by accident. I am not the type of person who ever litters." Howells attempted to fight the fine in court and ended up with a total fine of $538 when she was tried under the Environmental Protection Act.
