Fort Worth holds annual All Western Parade

FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Thousands of people gathered in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, to watch the annual All Western Parade.

Warm weather Saturday bought crowds out to watch buggies, stagecoaches and surreys drive the parade route, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Billy Cate said he rode in the parade for years, but couldn't remember ever having such nice weather.

"It was usually sleeting or snowing. We would practically freeze to death sitting on our horses, then go slipping and sliding down the streets," said Cate. "It was nothing like this."

The parade featured nearly 200 entries, including vintage trolleys, old chuckwagons, horse-drawn carriages, marching bands and area riding clubs. There are no motorized vehicles in the parade, which organizers bill as the nation's largest all-Western parade.

"It's old fashioned. That's how we like it," Cate said. "This is a good parade for a place that calls itself Cowtown."
