Man finds WWI images in antique camera

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A San Diego artist said he discovered eight images from World War I in an antique camera he purchased for $100.

Anton Orlov said he purchased the 1901 Bellini Jumelle camera and discovered while cleaning the piece that developed images inside the camera appeared to show scenes from World War I, including pictures of war-torn France and a group of uniformed men holding an object that appears to be a bomb, KSWB-TV, San Diego, reported Thursday.

"It was incredible to me that developed images were in the camera," Orlov said.

He said the glass plates must have been inside the camera for nearly 100 years.

Orlov said he will show the images when he takes his Photo Palace Bus to Portland, Ore.

The bus contains a mobile dark room and studio for his photography.

"You should honor history," Orlov said. "Honor the vision of artists and just be careful with your old stuff."

Roof-climbing dogs irk neighbor

ROEBUCK, Ala., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A pair of Alabama neighbors are feuding over the tendency of a woman's dogs to climb up on another woman's roof.

Estralita Womack of Roebuck said her four dogs climb onto a ledge in her backyard and jump from there to Alana Glandison's roof, WBRC-TV, Birmingham, Ala., reported Thursday.

Glandison said Womack has made no effort to stop the canines from climbing on her home and police and animal control officers told her they couldn't help because the animals are not posing a danger to anyone.

Glandison said she can hear the dogs clawing on her roof at all hours and she worries they might damage the house.

N.J. center offers yoga for dogs

RANDOLPH, N.J., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A New Jersey dog training center is offering classes in "doga," yoga designed for canines and their human companions to perform together.

Karin Stoetzer, the yoga instructor at Morris K9 Campus in Randolph, said the center first offered doga classes in December and the classes have now resumed, The (Newark) Star-Ledger reported Thursday.

Stoetzer, who teaches the class with her dog, Bacchus, and Robin Lash, head pet trainer at Morris K9 Campus, said she used to notice Bacchus taking an interest when she would do yoga at home.

"Every time I would practice, he would be by me," Stoetzer says. "They feel the calming energy. They wanna be with you."

The teachers said the classes are more than just owners using their dogs for their own exercises. They said the classes are designed to benefit human and canine equally.

"The whole goal for this class is we're not using the dogs as props," Lash said.

Officials nix nude chest carnival ad

REUS, Spain, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Officials in Reus, Spain, ordered carnival organizers to take down an advertisement featuring an image of a woman's naked breasts.

Mayor Carles Pellicer said he told organizers of the Carnaval de Reus, held the night before the start of Lent, to take down the "sexist" poster because it "does not represent the diverse public" who attend the event, ThinkSpain reported Thursday.

Organizers said the poster was created by Josep Maria Figuerola and Joan Andreu, and chosen from a pool of 14 entries as part of the annual poster design contest.
