Woman files complaint against dating site

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- A Swedish woman has filed a complaint with the Consumer Agency accusing a dating website of not being worth the money she paid for its services.

The 43-year-old woman's complaint against eDarling says the website was "not offering good value for money" and featured misleading advertising that convinced her to sign up for a three-month account in November, The Local.se reported Wednesday.

The woman said eDarling, the European trading name for U.S. website eHarmony, did not offer a search function and instead based results on her answers to a questionnaire.

She said the site sent her only three potential matches per day, and "almost half" of those did not include photos.

"You know, once you see what they look like you often don't keep reading," the woman said.

She said the company's customer service department was no help.

"Why can't I look around, how do they know what I want? They just told me that sending out more partnerships proposals risked overwhelming the user."

Sibylle Regli, a spokeswoman for eDarling, said she was surprised by the complaint.

"It's a very unusual complaint from a customer," Regli said. "I am a bit bewildered by the complaint as we think our website is very clear about how our service works, and usually a customer will usually ask for their money back first if they are unhappy."
