Moscow thief flees with ATM in trunk

MOSCOW, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Police said they shot a suspect who allegedly partially dismantled a Moscow ATM machine and packed it in his car trunk.

The culprit tried to flee but was arrested after an erratic chase through downtown.

"Police had to opened fire at the fleeing vehicle," police told Russia's RIA Novosti news agency. "He received a gunshot wound in the arm and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment."

Police said the suspect was spotted stuffing the ATM into his trunk early Saturday.
