Man charged in $1.29 Honey Bun theft

PALM BAY, Fla., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said they have arrested a man accused of stealing a $1.29 Iced Honey Bun from a store by stuffing it down his pants.

Palm Bay police said Brandon Phillips, 18, stuffed the small snack down his sweatpants at a 7-Eleven store Dec. 28 and fled on a bicycle when confronted by a store manager, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported Friday.

Investigators said a K-9 unit tracked Phillips to a wooded lot where he was arrested and his bike was found nearby.

The Honey Bun was not recovered, police said.

Phillips was charged with retail petit theft, resisting arrest without violence and resisting in the recovery of merchandise.
