Technical 'gremlins' interrupt BBC show

LONDON, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Some of the high tech in the BBC's new high-tech studio in London went awry Monday, leaving one radioman telling the audience there were "gremlins."

John Humphreys and Evan Davis, the presenters on "Today," a long-running early morning news show, discovered that somehow what was being broadcast was not what they were seeing in the studio, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Twitter gave listeners a chance to respond quickly, with one saying the mismatched dialogue coming from his radio reminded him of a "typical family Christmas."

At one point the technical confusion halted a report on Afghanistan.

"We are really being best by gremlins at the moment," Humphreys told listeners. "I'm sorry about this; I really am. We've now got a sort of breakdown with our control room. I don't know whether you can even hear me say this?"

Technicians got everything back under control within a few minutes, although that can seem like eternity in live radio.
