24 elephants to race in Nepal

CHITWAN, Nepal, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Organizers of a Nepalese elephant festival said the ninth annual event will involve 24 racing pachyderms and eight elephants playing soccer.

Organizers of the Chitwan Elephant Festival said the three-day event will include a race between 24 elephants, a soccer game featuring eight of the animals and five elephants participating in a beauty contest, China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported Monday.
