Rome zoo animals get holiday treats

ROME, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Officials at a Rome zoo, the Bioparco, said honey, mixed fruit and other food was distributed to animals during its program of holiday activities.

Colorful boxes were filled with food and other "gifts" at the zoo, ANSA reported Friday.

There were even balls for the lemurs to play with, officials said.

The Bioparco said the gift-giving was part of the zoo's holiday festivities, which also included treasure hunts for visiting families, surprise performances and educational events.
