TORONTO, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Officials in Canada said hundreds of people, including former Toronto Blue Jay Roberto Alomar, considered Wednesday -- 12/12/12 -- perfect for a wedding.
Alomar, whose number was 12 when he played for the Jays, is one of hundreds of people who scheduled weddings Wednesday, which is the last time the same number will repeat three times on a single date for 88 years.
"It's one of those special days and this is the last of the cycle," Virginia Ceni, assistant director of the Toronto Civic Wedding Chambers at City Hall, told the Toronto Star. "The next time you have this kind of lineup of numbers will be a long time so it's ... probably quadrupled the amount we would usually do on a Wednesday."
Centi said 40 weddings were booked in the chambers Wednesday and Lynette Bair, assistant manager of David's Bridal in Mississauga, said the company is aware of 381 weddings set for 12/12/12.
