Santa fired after rudeness allegation

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- The Maine Mall said its Santa Claus is being replaced after a parent complained he was rude to her 6-year-old daughter and would not let her sit in his lap.

The mother, whose name was not released, said her daughter, Chantel Mailhiot, 6, was prevented from sitting on Santa's lap when she refused to buy the $20 photo package, WGME-TV, Portland, Maine, reported Thursday.

The mother said her daughter asked Santa for an "American Girl doll" and he replied she would receive an "American football,:

The mall said a new Santa Claus will be in place Thursday.

The former Santa declined to comment, WGME-TV said.

Pizza Hut Canada releases perfume

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Pizza Hut Canada released 110 bottles of its pizza-scented perfume, "Eau de Pizza Hut," to fans on Facebook.

The pizza chain jokingly held a contest to name a fake perfume scented like "the smell of a box of Pizza Hut pizza being opened," and the response led the chain to create 110 bottles of the fragrance and send it to Facebook fans, the Vancouver Sun reported Thursday.

"For now, we've only produced 110 bottles of Eau de Pizza Hut, but who knows what the future has in store," said Beverley D'Cruz, marketing and product development director for Pizza Hut Canada.

The perfume comes after the Burger King fast food chain released a meat-scented body spray in 2008.

Two sisters give birth 7 weeks after third

WOODBURY, N.J., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Three sisters each gave birth to daughters at the same New Jersey hospital in a seven-week period -- two of them on the same day.

Tammy Bitting gave birth to her daughter, Tanya, Sept. 30 at Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, and sisters Carol Newman and Kim Slowey followed with their own babies, Anna and Kyleigh respectively, Nov. 20, the Washington Township (N.J.) Times reported Thursday.

"We made jokes about [delivering on the same day]," Slowey said.

The sisters said the baby boom was a boon to their own mother Janet Slowey, whose total number of grandchildren has now reached six.

"She kept saying she wanted more grandkids," Bitting said. "Now she's got them."

Russian iTunes users get XXX content

MOSCOW, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Russian iTunes users got more than they bargained for when XXX-rated content showed up in their movie section, Wired.com says.

When iTunes was launched in Russia, users who went to the "more films in different languages" section to download mainstream movie fare, they instead found content from porn sites, escort services and purveyors of sex toys, the online tech website reported Wednesday.

Wired.com said the folks at iPhones.ru thought iTunes' tech staff may have put some temporary xx.xx.xx placeholder links in the code that failed to accomplish that purpose, allowing the erotic content in.

Jorgen Tjerno of Lookout Mobile Security also suspects that's what happened.

"In general, linking to sites you control yourself, to domains you own, is a much better [placeholder] practice to ensure content isn't shady or ends up being shady," Tjerno said.

Wired.com said it appeared Apple moved quickly to rectify the situation.
